Scone Palace International Horse Trials’ supported charity for the 2026 event (27-30 August) will be British Horse Society (BHS) Scotland, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
Georgina Charlton, National Manager for British Horse Society (BHS) Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be named Scone Palace International Horse Trials’ charity partner for 2026. Being chosen in the same year that we celebrate the 60th anniversary of BHS Scotland makes this recognition even more special. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase and champion the work BHS Scotland does to support horses, their owners, and everyone who loves them across all of our charitable areas.”
The proceeds from the official course-walks with top riders around Scone Palace’s stunning cross-country tracks will be donated to the charity, which will also man the popular “shop and drop” facility at the event.
The BHS Scotland stand near the picturesque main arena will feature a mechanical horse, where visitors can experience the feeling of riding, and there will be a range of BHS activities in the children’s area.
Scone Palace International Horse Trials also hosts the BHS Scotland Riding Club Style Jumping Championships, which takes place in the Murray arena on Saturday, 29 August and includes a Services section, and the BHS Scotland Championship Finals Series of working hunter classes on Thursday, 27 August.
In addition to the stand near the main arena, the charity will have their event lorry near the cross-country course. Visitors can head there to learn more about the BHS’s amazing charity work. The BHS team will be happy to chat about what they do, becoming a member and your local riding club.
They will also be running some exciting Continuing Professional Development events for equestrian professionals during the event. Nick Gauntlett FBHS will be delivering a training session during the first horse inspection for the international eventing classes on the afternoon of Wednesday, 26 August, a cross-country course-walk and a dressage study group to discuss elements of the CCI4* competition. On Thursday, 27 August, there’ll also be a session with expert Denise Richardson-Rowell to find out all about working hunter competitions and discuss elements of the championship classes.
Scone Palace International Horse Trials’ Event Director Alec Lochore said: “BHS Scotland is a very important charity to everyone involved in all the diverse areas of the equestrian world. We are keen to promote a love of and an understanding of horses, and to share our passion for them with people who may not have had the chance to experience our community, and partnering with BHS Scotland is a great way to do this.”
The inaugural running of Scone Palace International Horse Trials in the grounds of Perthshire’s historic Scone Palace and the adjoining Perth Racecourse was a huge success, earning great acclaim from competitors and visitors alike. It is Scotland’s only international horse trials, hosting classes from CCI4*-S to the Scottish Grassroots Championships at BE100 and BE90, as well as a multitude of showing classes, British Showjumping competitions, Pony Club Mounted Games, and arena eventing.
The world’s top event riders flocked to Scone Palace in 2025, with British Olympic gold medallists Laura Collett and London 52 winning The Malcolm Group CCI4*-S en route to their European Championship title a month later.
